1st Week of Advent: Wednesday

But when Ruben heard it, he delivered Joseph out of their hands, saying “Let us not take his life”…….Then Judah said to his brothers, “Come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay our hands on him, for he is our brother, our own flesh.        Genesis 37

Where is your road going?
Where is your road going?

Joseph, even at the beginning of his worst journey ever, had all that he needed: two brothers who looked out for him and moved him out of harm’s way when the other brothers wanted to kill him.

We have what we need. And we have helpers along the way, each day, if we’d notice. And we have times when we can be the helper. Sometimes it’s as small as holding a door open or reaching up on a shelf for an item our nearby shopper can’t reach.

We have what we need, including the time to do whatever we need to do. Slow the journey; we’ve barely begun.

Holy One, help me find ways today to say “thank you” to others and ways to offer my help or a smile to someone who may need it. Help me remember that time is not the enemy, there is no enemy. There is, only, one step in front of another.
