My road became pretty rocky and I slipped and fell off in keeping my eyes and hopefully yours focused on the journey. Maybe you’re not able to keep up with all of the days, either. For this, I give us all general absolution. We are forgiven.
It’s never easy to keep ourselves focused on our spiritual life and sense, and in these times of escalating energy, it can be even harder. Friday night, night is when I schedule the post for the next morning, my husband and I stayed up late decorating the house with color and light and fell into bed gratefully, me not even remembering a Saturday post.
The first reading for the Second Sunday of Advent comes from Isaiah 40.
Comfort, give comfort to my people, says your God.
That’s one of my favorite pieces from Handel’s Messiah. Comfort, give comfort to my people. We could all use a little comfort these days. Allow yourself some comfort. If you’re able, take some time to just be, accepting comfort, accepting rest.
We’ll all be at it again come Monday, I expect, but for now, a little comfort for ourselves and for those we love and live with might be the best present of all.
